Reading is a wonderful thing.
Magazines and newspapers can get you up to date on the latest news and gossip. But they can only keep you interested for a short while as their topics will soon be “yesterday’s news”.
There is one thing that can hold your attention for a long time - books. Books are the new way to keep you entertained this holiday.
Books don’t go out of fashion easily. Some publishers only publish timeless classics.
Yes these might be written in old English and the humour might be different but the actual story is still interesting no matter how long ago the book was written.
You might be more interested in watching TV. Well you could, but why watch reruns of your favourite shows when you can read something that’s new and exciting.
If you still aren’t interested in reading you might be interested to know that some of your favourite movies and TV shows are film and television adaptations of books.
I will often go into a bookshop or a library and find a book that a movie or a show on TV is based on.
One of the hardest things I find when I want to read is simply choosing a book. There are millions of books out there and there is more than one which you will like. Here are some tips:
• Ask your friends- they might have some good recommendations.
• Go online- some online retailers have reviews as well as a synopsis of the book.
• Go to your local library or bookstore- find where the books for your age range are, pick one up and read the blurb (back cover). NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY THE FRONT COVER.
So by now you will have probably guessed that I LOVE READING. But your opinion could be different. It might be fun but you won’t know that till you try it for yourself.
